This
magazine follows a few conventions; it contains the singles, an image
of the artist, a website link, title of the album and artist name.
This particular advert for Beyoncé showcases her two personalities that she claims to have. The left hand side image is Beyonce and the right hand side image is her alter ego Sasha Fierce. The left hand image shows Beyoncé in black and white with very basic clothing, makeup and jewellery. This image of Beyoncé portrays her as a pure, naturally beautiful female due to the lack of makeup and the religious cross dangling from her wrist. Sasha Fierce's side of the advert is a huge contrast, with dark eye makeup, scrapped back hair and a motorbike body suit. Sasha Fierce portrays Beyoncé's performance side as a more adventourous, confident, kick ass female. Both of the images represent Beyoncé as a modern, powerful female.
The images are large and can be clearly seen, however these are covered in large writing. This writing stands out greatly at a quick glance and clearly states what the advert is for. All of the text is in the same font of capital serif. The main piece of text that catches your eye is 'THE ALBUM OUT NOW' as it is bolder than all the other writing.
The singles featured on the album are clearly shown on the bottom of the advert, encouraging people to buy the album to listen to the well-known songs featured. Also, underneath this is the website link of where to purchase the album. This would, again, encourage people to visit her website where they may purchase more merchandise.
The colour choices in this magazine advert are very basic and subtle in terms of the left hand image and the choice of the writing colour. However, this is contrasted with the bright colours on Beyoncé's costume in the right hand image; this catches a viewer's eye as it stands out greatly.
From this magazine advert I have learnt that a strong image makes an advertisment looks very effective and eye-catching.
