Refilming

Due to some unsuitable shots and our desire to capture more diverse shots Tammy and I decided to re-film.

Today Tammy and I; alongside the two actors in our media piece met to film some more footage and re-film some shots. We decided to film at our first location at Toton Sidings. The back drop of this location of abandoned trains and debris fit well with our theme and look appropriate in the background of our shots. Once we were happy with the footage we filmed we went back to college to upload and edit our new footage. Unfortunately we were unable to do this though as there was a problem with the editing software. We hope to be able to complete the editing in our next lesson.

Digipak Editing

In today's lesson I altered the image on one of my panels of my digipak.

I adjusted the contrast and colouring of the image and added a mirror effect. I think the final mirrored image is much more effective and professional looking than the single tree. And after speaking to my peers they agree the shape is artistic.

Magazine and Digipak First Draft Feedback

Digipak:

I gave my peers a questionnaire which asked for their opinion on my first draft of my digipak.

The majority of people said that they liked my back cover and the positioning of the text. But they didn't like that I repeated the same image twice. So I am planning to take some more pictures to replace the repeated image with.
The main response was that they liked my front cover image and that the font was eye catching. But I gained some feedback from my teachers that I am not meeting some key conventions of a digipak such as a barcode or record company logo. So I have decided to create and add both of these to the back panel of my digipak.

Magazine Advert:

I again created a questionnaire along a printed out picture of my magazine advert and asked my peers for some feedback.

I gained the response that using the same image on my digipak and magazine was good as it created a link and would be helpful if they were to purchase the CD from seeing the magazine advert. Also, my peers thought that my advert was a bit plain and needed brighter coloured fonts and more information such as 'available on iTunes' and maybe a social media website for the artist. I will do some more research into existing magazine adverts and add these if necessary.

Overall I am happy with the feedback I received and will make the improvements instructed by my peers and teachers.

Magazine First Draft

Digipak First Draft

I have edited some of my images and put the in a digipak layout.

I showed a group of my peers to gain some feedback from them. They gave me some points to work on and some that they thought were good.

Editing Anciliary Images

Throughout editing I have showed the images for my magazine advert and digipak to my peers to gain their feedback to see what they believed needed changing or what they thought should stay the same.

This is my original image.

I changed the brightness of the original image.

For this image I changed the contrast.

During our first edit we asked our peers what they thought of our ancillary text so far.

More Filming

Tammy and I decided to film some more footage as we didn't have enough shots to include within the extract. However, the other actors were unable to come to the filming session, so myself and Tammy decided to just take film each other, and have arranged to meet with the others actors at a later date that everyone is available on.

We believe that a change of scenery would be appropriate as this is often done in music videos. Therefore we moved location to Chetwynd Army Barracks. During this filming session we were able to obtain a diverse number of shots including close up shots lip-syncing scenes, which we hadn't filmed in previous filming times. These shots are crucial in a music video as it builds star image. So capturing this footage made this a very successful afternoon.

Location Two Recce Shots

We decided to have multiple locations as this is typical in the majority of music videos. Before we started filming we visited the location to map out areas we could film certain shots.

Editing

We still needed to film more footage so in today's media lesson we renamed all of our footage to make it easier to put in order and uploaded it on to Adobe Premier Pro. Due to us having a small amount of useful footage we altered the colour of our footage and tested some transitions between shots.

The image below is the original footage before we adjusted the colouring of our footage:

The image below is after altering the colour by adding a red overlay:

We have now decided to stick with the original colouring of the footage but instead change the contrast and brightness as we believe that trying to adjust all of the footage to the same colour is difficult as each image has a different original brightness.
